- Slightly further south you’ll find what is known as Pleasure Island, made up of Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher. You’ll also have much better luck with parking, more spots and cheaper/free in some cases. There is plenty of beach or parks where you can take a packed lunch.
